Serving others is a Blessing

My daily Yoga practice is my foundation; my rock. The many grounding aspects of Yoga deepen my connection to mind-body-spirit wellness and support me as a teacher. And the thing I love most about Yoga? Sharing it with others. Teaching yoga and serving others is genuinely a blessing in my life. I am ever grateful for the balance, confidence, focus, and resilience that comes from my practice and study. They are integral to my personal and spiritual growth and it can be the same for you.

My Path to Health and Healing

Taking a step back and pausing was one of the best decisions of my life. Seventeen years ago, anxiety was getting the best of me. My body was sending me signals. Tightness in my chest was a clear message. Stress in my personal and professional life was eating away at my health.

Clearly, it was time for a change. I tried Yoga one memorable Sunday afternoon (thanks to my mom who invited me to a class) and I was deeply moved by the results. Stress-management and peace-of-mind soon became my friends. Attending weekly classes was invigorating. My journey to becoming a yoga therapist and teacher began two years later.

Fast forward, I set off to India where I learned from master-teachers in the birthplace of yoga. My seven years of intensive studies left me deeply transformed and ready to serve; initiating others into the world of Yoga.

Today, teaching and practicing Yoga is my greatest passion. I invite you to join me in exploring the many Blessings of Yoga.

Hatha Yoga

I teach Hatha Yoga in the tradition of T. Kriṣṇamācārya, an Indian Yoga teacher, ayurvedic healer and scholar (18 November 1888 – 28 February 1989). His son, T.K.V. Deśikācar, continued to share the traditional teachings of Yoga worldwide and through the KYM in Chennai, India. And his grandson, Kausthub Deśikācar, continues the tradition today, sharing Viniyoga — the personalized application of Yoga based on the individualized needs of each student.

Viniyoga is the foundation of Yogatherapy. This healing approach to personalized Yoga includes refining postures, sequencing them optimally, and ascribing therapeutic value to the many tools of Yoga: āsana, prānāyama, meditation, and chanting.
