Breath awareness practices teach us to become aware of how we are breathing. Returning our breath to its natural rhythm, after the breath has become short, for example, is important for creating healthy breathing patterns. We don’t want our breathing habits to include short, ragged, or shallow breathing. Lasting changes in breathing patterns take time and regular, consistent practice.
